BCBG Max Azria window display
This weekend I’ve spent a lot of time out in the stores getting some wardrobe updates and replenishments done. My shopping destination of choice on this beautiful weekend was around 5th and Madision Avenues around Rockefeller Center. This included checking out some Michael Kors accessories, scoring some tops on sale at J. Crew, and stopping by one of my favorite shops of all… BCBG Max Azria. The window displays at BCBG are always enchanting and draw me into the store with their effortlessly fashionable take on the latest trends. One such display was this one pictured, with the fantastic pop pink maxi skirt, printed blue tops and must have accessories. These colors absolutely caught my eye and get my vote for favorite visual presentation of the week.
Vacation photo, Summer 2010 on the Adriatic Coast
With Summer fast approaching, I find my self thinking about some of my favorite memories from Summer’s past and making plans for the upcoming season. Many of these memories usually include being on a beach somewhere, preferably along Croatia’s enchantingly beautiful Adriatic Coast. There’s nothing better than enjoying the view from one of the lovely seaside cafes. During the warm weather I’m typically drawn to light easy styles like flowy dresses and tops that remind me of the Mediterranean region.
Meet and greet with sweet and stylish actress Rachel Bilson.
Actress Rachel Bilson, possibly best known for her role as Summer Roberts on The O.C. and currently starring in The C.W.’s Hart of Dixie, recently launched a home collection named Edie Rose. This past Tuesday I had a chance to met the star, while she was hosting a promotional event at New York’s famous Macy’s Herald Square. Rachel who is also well known for her fashion sense, brings both playful and whimsical elements to her collection of dishwear, designed exclusively for Macy’s. These adorably lovely pieces also make great gifts, and with Mother’s Day right around the corner, I think I may have spotted a few things that my Mom would love!

I’ve been out of the blogging scene for a little bit now because of some technical difficulties with my computer. Now that it’s all fixed, and my MacBook which I adore is up and running again, I’m back!
On to more important things, let’s talk accessories. This past week was super busy, but I did manage to squeeze in a little shopping into the weekend. I bought some trendy jewelry and a couple of neon pieces.
While I was passing through 5th Avenue, there was an accessory display that really caught my eye from Salvatore Ferragamo. The wedge sandals are just the right mix of sexy, trendy, and classy all at the same time. I also totally want a snakeskin printed bag and a bright neon colored bag like the ones below. Not to mention I’ve been looking for some new sunglasses and I think I’m inspired by those metallic rimed ones. Buying all these Ferragamo items is kind of out of my current budget, but it’s my mission to find some if not all of these summer trends for less.

Several of my previous posts centered around one common theme, shopping in the city. While there are endless options to choose from, there are only three that I keep coming back to time and time again. So the neighborhood that makes the cut to conclude my series of New York shopping hot spots is SoHo. Yes, I know the area may have become very touristy in recent years, especially the main stretch on Broadway, but go beyond the beaten path through the little side streets and you are sure to find hidden treasures. Along with the established brands and luxury designer labels, SoHo has many charming shops and cozy cafes to discover and is a great place to wonder around while exploring the city.
Historically unique architecture is part of SoHo’s charm
A few of my favorite SoHo boutiques are Rebecca Taylor, Isabel Marant, and beauty shop Sabon. So that’s my summary of New York’s best shopping… for now…
…I’m constantly on the look out for the latest retail finds in the City that Never Sleeps!
Print Trends spotted at Juicy Couture
Floral prints are nothing new for Spring. Every year these nature inspired themes are in bloom when the seasons begin to change from cold to warm. I’ve never really been much of a fan of floral prints, however, a new perspective on the trend just may have changed my mind.
Floral and Neon Mix at Juicy Couture
A fresh take I recently spotted for this trend featured it being mixed with the hot neon color trend of the season. Pairing a vibrant floral print with neon colored pieces is a sure way to make a statement outfit that is sure to grab attention. As seen in my photo above, a vibrant top is best paired with a lighter shade of neon, like that yellow. The hot pink bag is just the ticket to pump up the color to a higher level and finish off the ensemble. I think I’ve even convinced myself to try out this mix, how about you?
In this installment of New York City Shopping Hot Spots, we’re heading uptown, to the Upper East Side to be more precise. Centered around one of the city’s historic landmark department stores is another one of my favorite shopping destinations.
Bloomingdale’s at 59th Street
While the city has many department stores, all unique in their own way and catering to their respective target markets, Bloomingdale’s gets my vote for the city’s best. What catches my attention about Bloomingadale’s is its mix of luxury and contemporary brands, not to mention a fabulous cosmetics floor! The surrounding area around 59th Street and Lexington Avenue, is also home to lots of famous retailers including Urban Outfitters, Diesel, Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, and Aldo, among others. Once your day of shopping is complete, there are plenty of near by cafes and restaurants to relax and unwind in.
